What Are the Most Beautiful Video Games: A Complete List

Video games are virtual worlds where our community’s creativity really shines; there are hundreds of different games out there and thousands of unique and interesting characters and scenes. This list isn’t about the best games, but rather the most visually appealing ones. If your favorite game is on this list, that is a bonus

Table of Contents

Ghost of Tsushima

Sucker Punch Productions’ “Ghost of Tsushima” is one of the top aesthetic games. Professional players will enjoy exceptional moments in both the PS4 and PS5 editions.

Highly recommended is the Director’s Cut Edition, which is available on both systems. On both devices, you may choose between a greater resolution (4K) and a higher frame rate.

The story takes place during the Mongol invasion of Tsushima, Japan, in the 13th century when a lone and battle-hardened samurai tries to free the island from foreign occupation.

Simply pause and allow the amazing landscape pictures to work their magic on you as the sun slowly rises on the horizon – it’s truly magical. Colorful leaves, deep forests, and unexpected rain are just a few of the features that make this game one of the world’s most beautiful games.

Also, the game may be played with a black and white filter, transporting the player into an ancient Samurai film a la Akira Kurosawa. Thus, the game obviously belongs in the category of the greatest games.

Even if the open map is kept relatively simple and side missions sometimes have to be found with a lot of effort, the beautiful landscape of the island makes up for the effort.

Red Dead Redemption II

The western epic, which is the sequel to the extremely famous Red Dead Redemption I, is available for both the Xbox One and the PC and features magnificent graphics on both platforms.

The PC version in particular scores with an extensive graphics menu and an incredible visual quality that far exceeds that of the console: tracks in the snow and mud are shown in much more detail and lighting and shading are much more complex.

Every single plant, animal, and human being is as one-of-a-kind as life itself shows. This is also why RDR2 is regarded as one of the most visually appealing games. RDR2 takes place in a wide-open western world, which is shown by the game’s numerous small features.

The fact that the player may control the graphic display with up to 40 small options is a unique feature of the game.  Details such as ground texturing, tree display, and water quality may all be modified with the use of the tessellation settings.

However, at lower levels, the differences are only visible if you look very closely.

The volumetric resolution is another visual parameter that may be used to alter fog, lighting, and clouds. The creators are dedicated to creating realistic gaming experiences and have been doing it for a long time.

Death Stranding

When it comes to games with beautiful graphics, Death Stranding is an essential must-have.

It’s one of the few video games that really looks like genuine footage. Every skin cell, hair, and even the smallest wrinkle in clothes is generated numerous times in order for the game to be as realistic as possible.

You play as Sam Porter Bridges, a courier tasked with transporting goods and essential items across the devastated landscape of the post-apocalyptic United States in order to unite the various survivor groups and save them from destruction.

Along the way, you’ll have to fight off aliens intent on wiping out humanity, defend yourself against bandits who are after the goods, and protect yourself from rain that accelerates the aging process.

The graphic details provide the gamer with the most realistic experience possible. To create extremely realistic rendering, the developers insisted on carefully scanning things such as cellphones, weapons, and furniture.

Standing close to stars like Léa Seydou, Mads Mikkelsen, and Norman Reedus gives you a new view. It’s difficult to imagine a better game than one with the greatest aesthetics.

Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal provides you with one-of-a-kind brutal action: You don’t give a damn about the main characters’ elaborate facial expressions and movements, huge, life-filled open environments, or other things that nobody wants anyhow. Instead, the Doomslayer is just pumping lead one demon after another and looking pretty cool doing it.

A flowing and almost fascinating thunderstorm appears on the screen: blood, lead, and rags fly around the environment as you send creatures back to hell. Bombastic explosions add extra bang. Add to that the brilliantly alive, disgusting enemies, and the Inferno is a shooter package of the highest class. The few ugly gray interiors are no longer significant.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

You may say whatever you want about Ubisoft and the Assassin’s Creed series: it’s always the same thing! What a boring story! There isn’t nearly enough stealthy gameplay in the style of the series’ beginnings! The creators, on the other hand, cannot be denied their ability to create a beautiful, authentic, and active gaming environment.

This is also true in the latest Assassin’s Creed Valhalla spin-off, which is once again beautifully done. The journey to Norway and northern England is as fascinating as ever, creating a very convincing Viking atmosphere. Valhalla always looks fantastic, whether you’re cruising the country’s rivers and lakes in your longboat, attacking an enemy castle with a battering ram, or simply meditatively stacking a few rocks on top of each other.

So good that sometimes you’re just busy admiring the landscape instead of dedicating yourself to the main quest.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

To be honest, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a fun playable demo. The upcoming Playstation 5’s hardware is still under development. The action-adventure stretches its muscles and shows what the next generation of consoles is capable of. There are a couple of enhancements here compared to the already fantastic-looking predecessor from 2018: The visibility has been improved, and the surroundings have been brightened and detailed.

Spider-Man twirls around the screen at a steady 60 frames per second by default. However, in 4K mode, you receive the entire range of graphic splendor, including stunning lighting, color, and particle effects. The snowfall in cold New York is considerably more dramatic, owing to ray tracing, which creates even more stylish reflections.

Selene, a space pilot, crashes into a mysterious world populated by aliens that do not wish her good. She has to go through this dreadful experience over and over again. In Returnal, players pass their way through various environments, from the jungle to the desert, while avoiding being shot themselves. Because if it happens too many times, her life is over – and the crash landing is back on again.

The game is rogue-like, which gets its name from the fact that players compete against the same opponents over and over again, but with different methods. Overall, Returnal is a story about memory loss and the difficulty of bringing memories back.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

For a brilliant season, not much is required: no motion capture of Hollywood actors is required, nor are 3D scans of genuine landscapes. Sometimes, like in the case of Ori and the Will of the Wisps, an uncommon aesthetic vision is enough, which is then flawlessly realized.

The journey transports you to the charming world of the eponymous forest spirit, with whom you engage in a major rescue operation. Not only will you encounter several, gorgeously created characters that may just as easily have appeared in a fairy tale book during this process. You will also discover the diverse world with its dim forests, colorful oases, snowy peaks, dark caves, and sandy deserts. Each zone is beautifully crafted and full of lively details.

Ori’s world comes to life thanks to beautiful lighting and new 3D backgrounds that make it look as though it’s all one piece. In a nutshell, Will of the Wisps is one of the most gorgeous gameplay of all time.

The Federal Bureau of Control can only be described as a windowless skyscraper with a labyrinth of corridors and rooms filled with strange beings with telekinetic energies and a variety of other phenomena.

In this strategy game, the player takes control of protagonist Jesse Faden and must complete difficult and challenging tasks with her while using his telekinetic abilities to find and save his brother. That concludes the story. But why is Control rated as one of the most beautiful games?

The graphics stand out in particular because of the use of lighting and reflections. Walls, glass windows, and puddles realistically reflect the surroundings, and the interplay of light and shadow creates a realistic overall picture. Faces, for example, are very detailed. The majority of the furniture and things can be deconstructed and hurled at the scary monsters with ease.

You are immersed in a beautiful atmosphere created mainly by ray tracing. This is a new technique that uses rendering algorithms to create hyper-realistic light and shadow digitally. Control is one of the few games that uses ray tracing even in 2022, and hence gets the title of “The Most Beautiful Game.”

Microsoft Flight Simulator

It’s hard to imagine, but even the most graphically advanced games require simulators, particularly Microsoft’s Flight Simulator. Actual commitment is required to meet the physical and technological challenges of the real world.

This game is so convincing because of the realistic graphics that it is used for pilot training and education all around the world. Not just on the PC, but also on the Xbox, the game is now available.

However, it is not a game in the traditional sense. It isn’t defined by a story or missions. It is what the name says: a simulator. The planes are designed to look realistic and are oriented in such a manner that they react to environmental factors like wind and ice, just like in real life.

Original satellite and map photos are used to represent the outside world. This is how a believable environment is created, with just a few exceptions such as streets and buildings being hand-designed.
