What is the Best Pokémon Game for Switch
There are numerous Pokemon games out there, and surely, it’s impossible to know or play them all. So, I decided to test the ones that have the highest rating and choose the best Pokemon game for Switch. It wasn’t an easy task, and I couldn’t choose one option and collected a couple of suggestions with a couple of games for people with different tastes. But remember that there haven’t been major changes to the game franchises for the last few years, so if you are not familiar with the Pokemon game or haven’t played since its first release, you may be disappointed.

Pokémon Sword and Shield
My Rating: 8/10
While this game isn’t a part of the mainline series, it offers a more casual gaming experience and some elements from the mobile game Pokémon GO. I can’t say that there was anything revolutionary in this game; it’s still a Pokémon game and tends to repeat the same gameplay as others in the series.
Why you may want to play Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu!?
- Pokémon feel really alive with many animations. It made the game more entertaining and fun.
- Mt. Moon, Silph Co, and Victory Road are some very good dungeons full of hidden places for catch combos.
- The players who are not fun of action will be happy to find out that the game doesn’t force you into a battle all the time.
- I loved Shiny Hunting; it was a lot of fun and contained a lot of action.
- Pikachu is just an adorable companion.
- The music was really good.
Do I Think it was Worth My Money?
I borrowed the game from a friend, so I didn’t spend actual money on it and can be a little biased here, but if you are already familiar with the series and like it, or, if you are a casual gamer, then it’s worth the money.
Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu!

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX
My Rating: 9.5/10
This one is a remake of the original Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games and offers a different gameplay style, mainly focusing on dungeon exploration and a unique storyline.
Why you may want to play Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX on Switch?
- The Gen 7 gets new moves like Flower Shield and Stomping Tantrum.
- The Team size is increased the team size somewhat; while you’re in a dungeon, you can have up to 5 extra team members.
- The game is quite hard, which I loved. You will need to do side quests and participate in rescue missions; so it will become much easier to advance in the game. For example, I advise a lot of training in the dojo; you can thank me later.
- Big Pokémon like Onyx don’t cost multiple slots.
- The postgame is the best part full of dungeons, legends, and extra scenes. Honestly, I liked this part even more.
- The art style is very good and pleasing.
Do I Think it was Worth My Money?
Definitely, it was worth it. I enjoyed the core game, but the post-game was the best part. It was more challenging than I anticipated, and I spent more time beating the bosses than I was planning. So, even if you are not a Pokémon fan, I advise you to give a try to this game.
Pokémon Cafe ReMix
My Rating: 6.5/10
This one is not your traditional Pokémon game, and I’m not sure if it’s for everyone. It’s a simple puzzle game with Pokémon, offering a different style of gameplay. If it sounds like your cup of tea, then read further.
Why you may want to play Pokémon Cafe ReMix?
- There are even more Pokémon to discover.
- You will get new outfits for your Pokémon.
- newly added dress-up options!
- The game has a learning curve.
- You can improve your Pokemon abilities through puzzles.
- If you are a team player.
Do I Think it was Worth My Money?
I wasn’t impressed at all, maybe because I’m not impressed by new outfits. And I didn’t like playing in a team with useless team members who couldn’t get any points and were holding back the whole team’s achievements. So, I don’t think I’ll ever play this game. My advice is, if you can buy it second-hand or borrow it from a friend, then go with it but don’t invest money.
Pokémon Unite
My Rating: 7/10
This is the only game I didn’t try and interviewed my friends to get any idea about it. So, it’s a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, offering competitive and team-based gameplay.
Why you may want to play Pokémon Unite?
- Each match is fixed at 10 minutes.
- It’s very competitive.
- The game offers a more tactical play.
- The game rounds can be rough and require a good set of skills.
Do I Think it was Worth Your Money?
It largely depends on your gaming preferences. As I haven’t tested the game myself, I got mixed reviews from my gamer friends. I would suggest investing in this only if you are a Pokémon fan, otherwise, borrow from friends and give it a try.
