Which Video Games Meet the Hype?
Video games have revolutionized the way we experience entertainment. From multimedia games that let you immerse yourself in a story, to interactive experiences that require you to use logic and reason, video games are thriving in the 21st century. But which video games live up to the hype?
Table of Contents
Total War: Shogun 2
The seventh part of the legendary strategy game series Total War sends you to ancient Japan. Your mission is simple: you and your family must subdue the other clans to win control of Japan. However, the only way to get there is to play one of the most complicated and tactical strategy games ever created.
The game has nine clans and provinces, each with its unique playstyle, ranging from the Shimazu clan’s superior samurai to the Takeda clan’s exceptional cavalry. You take care of your provinces on a strategic map while up to 38,400 units face each other in battles.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Even though Skyrim, the legendary role-playing game, is a few years old, the experiences in Skyrim have not lost their appeal. New adventurers of the RPG’s stunning and diverse environments are here to hunt dragons, slay draugr, and pay respect to the dark brotherhood.
Of course, you can complete the primary task in about 50 hours, but you may easily spend 200 hours or more in the Dovahkiin to explore every nook and corner. Skyrim is one of the most complete and finest video games of all time, thanks to its various expansions and modifications.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
CD Projekt Red has always been known for producing quality games. And the Witcher series has effectively become the Polish studio’s visiting card. And ” Witcher 3: Wild Hunt ” is a type of video game where you enjoy every second of it since you can interact with nearly anything. It’s just like in real life!
The first location, “White Garden,” is small: moving swiftly quickly, and with few missions. But suddenly the player met a massive medieval gaming environment, full of woods, hills, rivers, and snow-capped peaks. And there are hordes of magical monsters, marauders, dozens of residential and abandoned towns, and numerous huge cities to add to the mix.
The most important thing to remember during the passage is not to add any more tasks. Geralt (the main character) constantly looks for new challenges and chances. The player must determine if the Witcher (hero) is ready to take them or whether he should stick to the “basic” missions. However, lovers of side quests (tasks that are unrelated to the main plot) should be aware that they will not get any extra assignments once the story has been completed.
Half Life 3: Alyx
This part of the game takes place five years before the events of Half Life 2. Alyx Vance hasn’t met Gordon Freeman yet, but she’s already fighting the forces of evil. During one of these battles, her opponents kidnap her father. The girl has already picked up guns and strong gravity gloves and is ready to face the monsters.
The makers might have used terrifying shockers (which would have been terrifying in virtual reality), but they chose a more subtle approach: the game’s events progressively increase terror. The hero and the player will only be able to fight the forces of evil by busting them.
You must think about where you will place the inventory; if it is in the left glove, it will be difficult to reach with the right hand. There are no “endless pockets” in the game; you must regularly layout the excess along the way. Remembering the locations of the abandoned inventory is preferable since you will need to return to them frequently.
Civilization VI
A successful strategy game should, of course, be included in our list. We have decided on what is now the sixth part of the legendary turn-based strategy series Civilization. The fact that our empire has developed to become a world power over multiple centuries has not lost its appeal. The innovative district structure, well-thought-out politics, and engaging gameplay promise many hours of gaming.
Divinity: Original Sin 2
The predecessor was a popular role-playing game, but Larian’s Belgian developers have outdone themselves with Divinity: Original Sin 2. Compared to its genre competitors, the game’s turn-based combat system and isometric view are inspired by classics like Baldur’s Gate and Co. It’s especially pleasant because, in terms of gameplay, it’s on a level with RPG veterans. The varied fights appeal to newbies and experts, providing a tactical depth that is rarely found nowadays. A game in which you may lose yourself.
Mass Effect 2
Despite its age, the game is still popular; the graphics are good, and the controls are familiar and easy to understand. You may use a joystick, a keyboard, and a mouse to play this game.
The game is set in the far future, and the player must fight the Cerberus organization in order to save the universe from the Reapers’ return (a particularly dangerous civilization that destroyed all the civilizations of the Milky Way 50 thousand years before the start of the plot).
It is possible to play the game several times. Every gaming adventure will be unique. Players that strive to play the game according to morality’s standards (i.e., without murdering or intrigues) have the opportunity to chat up their opponents and end the game with the least losses. Fans of cruel treatment of enemies must constantly dodge enemy bullets.
The genre of the game may be changed depending on how you pass: side mission lovers will convert ME2 into a well-thought-out role-playing game where you must think about every move. If you stick to the plot, the game will turn into a fast-paced shooter.
Battlefield 3
The bet is made on the realism of battles. The creators appear to be providing gamers with a mockumentary film – a pseudo-documentary shoot in which the protagonists are aware that they are being recorded and are not afraid to be silly. But don’t be fooled by the friends’ jokes; the opponents are evil and will kill one or two of you.
A single-story thread runs through all of the game episodes. The protagonist, Sergeant Henry Blackburn, during interrogation, remembers previous military experiences. And the player becomes a part of these events, fighting enemies in the Middle East, Paris, and New York.
The only disappointment is the checkpoints that have not been worked out (save places – if the hero is killed, he does not return to the beginning of the level but this place). The control points are far apart, so saving at the right time is not always possible. Complex tasks sometimes have to be completed instead of 15 minutes for an hour.
Euro Truck Simulator 2
Simulators are unique in themselves. Whether it’s a Euro Truck, a bus, the police, or a farm, simulation games are incredibly popular among fans and provide a lot of playtimes. Even if the game is criticized by many, compelling and engaging gameplay is hidden behind the name.
You may get a feel for trucker life in Euro Truck Simulator 2 by delivering to cities throughout Europe and buying new trucks or garages, which you can enhance. Even six years after its initial release, the game continues to get frequent feature updates. In today’s ever-faster world, the timeless gaming principle has something decelerating to give you over 300 hours of entertainment.
No Man's Sky
No Man’s Sky has come a long way since its release, and it will be a superb game at the very least after the next update.
You explore a randomly created gaming universe with 18 trillion planets and an astounding lot to offer with your spaceship. You explore them on foot or with one of the many vehicles, collect raw materials, build your bases or hunt the creatures there.
It is totally up to you whether you pursue the actual aim of reaching the galaxy’s center or engaging in space wars with pirates. Regular updates provide entirely new material; no Man’s Sky may easily keep you busy for 90 hours or more.
